Geocache Description:

Park in the turnout area just off the highway of the North bound lane, do not drive up the road towards the Cache. Cache is in a small size white prescription bottle, only has a log and pencil, not room for anything else.

Cache is at the location where the old “Spring Creek School” was located; if you walk around the area you will find the foundation and other remnants. This one room school was used from 1908 thru 1948. Teachers had to teach all of the grades and all of the subjects. There were usually only the first eight grades, and at times there would not be students in all of the grades. Class sizes varied from ten to thirty students, depending on the season of the year. Teachers had to arrived to school before the students in order to get the wood stove going which heated the school, and would have to haul water in for the students to drink. One of the people who went here in 1932 when he was 9 years old said that he walked from where they lived which is about 2 ¾ miles every day to school, and then two boys who would walk from what is know known as Cummings Lake which is about 2 ¾ miles.

The current creek had it name changed from Spring Creek in 1925 when it was being surveyed by the USFS.
