Another spectacular lookout location with a wartime defence history.
This is without doubt one of the best views in Albany. During World Wars I and II a lookout post operated here. Only traces remain of the radar located here in WW II next to a building shaped like a giant rock to blend in to the landscape. Today there are tourist signs describing the history of the site. There is also a short walk trail which includes an interpretive history of the early naval explorers who visited here. The cache is hidden a short distance off this trail. You will cross over a sheet of rock and the cache is hidden in the shrubbery within reaching distance of a very narrow path.
When we set the cache there was a little bed of carnivorous plants growing about 15 m back toward the track in a mossy patch. Lots of other wildflowers and views in every direction. We hope you enjoy this spot.
As you enter the car park you will notice a gravel road just before the Stony Hill Carpark sign. There is another carpark a short way down here and you can do the Peak Head walk if you have a couple of hours to enjoy more spectacular scenery.
