This cache was
placed recently when Geo_cats, Oreopony and Pointsaljim led a group
of new geocaching enthusiasts on a lovely trail in the Reservoir
Canyon area of SLO. This was the hiking portion of a class
conducted for OLLI, Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes. Oreo pony
taught the basics of geocaching in a Cal Poly classroom one
Saturday and then Geo_cats, Oreopony and Pointsaljim led the hike
the following Saturday. The class, broken into 5 smaller groups,
sought out geocaches; Barking up the right tree, Singing the GPSr
Blues, Cacher's Canyon Peak and established this
cache.
Following upon
the theme of last years OLLI cache, I reference Laurel and Hardy in
the name and background.
As usual on the trails in these parts,
watch out for poison oak.
Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes, funded generously by the
Bernard Osher Foundation, are specifically designed for adults age
50 years and above. The programs allow members to engage their
intellects, learn new skills, and discover new friends. Best of
all, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members experience the joys
of learning without the stress of grades and tests.
