Geocache Description:

You might not realize it, but as you drive along this road you are being watched. Hundreds of little beady eyes are tracking you. Hundreds of necks are craning to see you drive by. Their last revolt didn't get them too far, but they are plotting again. Next time the outcome will be different.

You see, none of the elders remember the first revolt any more, but the story has been passed down. It happened in the month of October. The nights were getting cool and fall was in the air. Men were visiting the long rectangular buildings and talking about profits and wholesale prices. Soon the big trucks would pull up and the majority of the population would be loaded into the vehicles. Their white feathers would blow far and wide, the only testament to their existence that would remain.

The leaders huddled and discussed strategy. Plans were made.
One night when the moon was full, a young man drove slowly along the road. His sweetheart was in the car next to him. There was a cool swimming hole ahead, he had told her, his arm draped across her shoulders.

All of a sudden, there was a grand flurry of feathers. Gobbles and squeaks filled the air. The couple realized their life was in grave danger as beaks started pounding on the windows. Wings beat against the doors. No one ever knows what happened to the man and his girlfriend. How and if they escaped is a mystery.

The turkeys jumped into the car and revved the engine. This was their chance. Driving looked so easy. They had watched cars go by for years. In their excitement, however, communication lines were crossed. Gobbledigook reigned. The car lurched forward and only traveled several feet before running off the road and bursting into a fiery inferno.

The scent of singed feathers and burning star thistle filled the air. Hundreds of turkeys who had been cheering just moments before watched in horror as their chance of escape went up in smoke. Beady eyes bulged and beaks were wide open, but only small squeaks emerged. Tails drooped.

It was a sad night at the rectangular buildings. Turkeys huddled in groups and knew their fate would not be much different. Despair reigned.

Days passed...weeks passed...months went by. The rains came, the grass grew green and then turned yellow, and then, one day, a geocache was placed.

They are watching you search. Try to blend into the scenery. Don't look suspicious. Don't talk about that Thanksgiving holiday. Don't discuss white meat versus dark meat. Just find the cache, if you can, and hightail it out of there.

You have been warned. This cache is not for the faint of heart.

Congratulations to Sonorazark for being FTF. He's probably #1 on "their" list now!

NOTE: This cache was originally a hanger in a burnt-out car. The car has been towed. The buildings with the turkeys are still there.
