Geocache Description:

Short Hike - Longer Find?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Sehmel Homestead Park is a 98 acre PenMet Park that is as yet undeveloped. Plans call for baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, picnic sites, etc, but for now it is a beautiful undeveloped piece of former homestead. Parking is limited - two wide spots on the shoulder, one of which has just a narrow trail through the blackberries, the other at a dirt road with a cable across it. There are three other caches that I know of in the park so this is a good place to go for a pleasant walk/hike and get more than just one. This cache is the closest to the parking spots but is, I believe, the most challenging find. This is a great spot for dogs - there is a pond nearby so be ready to take a wet dog home if he likes to swim. Please do your best to replace the cache exactly as found. Note: I have raised the terrain rating to 2.5 because winter rains have raised the level of the pond, blocking the easiest path to ground zero. Expect a number of brambles and blackberries, beware of a nearly-downed old barbwire fence, but there is a trail of sorts and the cache is still accessible.
