Geocache Description:

Smallish netgear.com locking plastic container hidden near the gravesite of Ocean-Born Mary.

The coordinates listed for this cache lead you into a very cool and little-known cemetary containing the gravesite of Ocean-Born Mary, a local legend. The cache is outside the cemetary, within 500' of the grave site, and can be found using the clues listed below.

Mary Wallace was born during a 1720 immigrant sea voyage to New England. Soon after her birth, the ship was met by privateers. According to legend, the pirates promised to leave the ship and its inhabitants unharmed if the new baby was named after the pirate captain's mother. Mary arrived in New England safely, grew up, was married wearing a dress made from silk given to her by the privateers, and eventually moved to Henniker, NH. If you are interested in more information about Mary, you can visit: (visit link)

When you arrive at Mary's grave, fill in the following information from the gravestone:
Mary died Feb A in the year 18BC when she was D years old.
Follow these directions to find the cache:
1. Stand before her grave (so that you can read it). Turn 90 degrees to the left and walk C paces.
2. Turn 90 degrees to the right.
3. Proceed straight ahead A+B+C+D feet.
4. This will bring you into the woods and to the cache site. You may have to move some leaves to make the cache visible.

The cache is a medium-sized clear plastic netgear.com lock top box with a log book and various small prizes. Please return the cache to its hiding place and cover it up a bit to prevent muggling. There are special netgear.com prizes for the first five to find!

Be careful of poison ivy (easy to avoid if you are watchful). The cache may be hard to access in deep snow. Take some time to view the interesting graves in this graveyard (look for the Revolutionary War "negro soldier" near the opposite corner of the yard). Be respectful and have fun!
