To get there, from the town of Chewelah take Sand Canyon Road 7.5 mi. then Left on Major Rd. 6 miles later, park at the parking area with a "No Camping" sign and walk in about 120 yards and enjoy an incredible view of McDonald Ridge with Bayley Lake almost straight below you several hundred feet. Turn right, and walk to 3rd higher outlook, then up hill off to your right at 2 o'clock.
This cache is placed in an area that affords an incredible view off a cliff to a green valley below with two small lakes at either end of it. There is a meadow that will frequently have moose in it. From the cliff, the lakes look like very small ponds. In reality, they are much larger than they appear at this altitude which is approximately 800 feet above the lake level. Across the valley, McDonald Mountain rises abruptly from the lake to over 3,600 feet altitude. It is a view that demands pausing to reflect on the beauty of it all. Keep a careful watch on kids and pets, as the cliff is very uneven ground and it drops straight down over 500 feet below.
Note: The "deaux" refers to the original cache in this area (Bayley Lake View, GCFA28) which was .1 miles from this hide. It was archived in 2005 after several no founds. We hope you enjoy this hide, and agree there should be an active cache located in this beautiful area.
