Trail Jogger: Having today off due to the Columbus Day federal holiday I checked on this cache because of the recent DNF. The cache had indeed been muggled so it will not be replaced. Thank-you to all who have enjoyed claiming this cache!

Murfin Memorial Fields

Murfin Memorial Fields, better known to local sports enthusiasts as “Murfin Field”, is a large rectangular tract of land bounded by Grove City High School to the east and Haughn Road to the west. It is the centerpiece of the Grove City Kids Association and provides the playing fields for the majority of their sports. As Grove City’s largest park, the field is used throughout the year for football, softball, basketball, soccer, and cheerleading.

In the center of Murfin Field is a flagpole around which is a garden surrounded by benches where parents and siblings can go to wait or relax awhile. This would be an ideal location for a cache although it would be nearly impossible to retrieve it while spectators are nearby so the cache was placed on the log cabin concession stand a very short distance away. Here, a stealthy geocacher could easily find and recover the cache without drawing unnecessary attention even when there is alot of activity going on.

HINT: Stand near where the drink vending machine is shown in this picture at the back corner of the log cabin until you are invisible to bystanders and then look around. (The vending machine gets removed during the winter.) There is no need to look in any bushes or landscaping. The container itself is a 2”x3”x4” black plastic box with a green geocache label on it. It is positioned where it should remain dry in all weather so that it will be available year around even in rain and snow.
