The cache takes you to the two most prominent features of the
village. Firstly the church of St Illtyd which holds a key place in
the ecclesiastical history of Wales and Britain. For it was here,
in the village and its valley, that one of the earliest Baptist
congregations gathered to worship.
The other is an abandoned limestone quarry which is now a
Natural Trust nature reserve. The cache has been placed just
outside the reserve but the quarry is well worth exploring. The
above coordinates will take you to the church entrance where you
will need to find a date, WXYZ.
The final regular cache is at N51° 35.ABC W004° 05.DEF
Where:
A = Z
B = Y-2
C = X-Z
D = W
E = X
F = X/Y
The walk to the cache is short and flat but be warned you may
get wet feet to reach it.
The roads to Ilston are not suitable for large vehicles, as they
are narrow twisting lanes so please take care when driving to the
village.
The cache is a 1 litre plastic container in a camo bag, there is
significant tree cover at the cache site so an explicit hint is
provided if you require it.
