The Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve is situated opposite the Howic Falls.
Six walking trails will take you to different parts in this reserve. There are about 270 bird species and a long list of Animals such as Giraffe, Leopard, Zebra, Kudu ext.
The Umgeni Valley Reserve also give Enviromental Education Courses.
All visitors need to pay at reception; R15.00 pp and R8.00 for kids.

Start at the waypoint Co-Ords of the Upper Dwarf trail. The walk goes along the dolerite cliff-line, overlooking the eastern section of the reserve. Look carefully and you may see quite a lot of wild animals – Giraffe, Wildebeest and Zebra grazing on the planes.
A well-used Crowned Eagles nest is positioned in a large fig tree in this area. Truly masters of the air.
The cache is a one liter cylinder container.
