Geocache Description:

A fairly short easy stroll through Emersons Green housing estate on
the edge of Bristol.

This is my first cache and is placed within walking distance of where I am currently working - I hope you enjoy it.

To find this cache you need to locate the six panels on Emersons Way that each contain portions of the children's story "The Owl and The Pussycat". Each panel is around 7 to 8 feet high and made of metal. They are arranged in two groups of three, each group of three forming a triangle. The story itself was written by Edward Lear in 1871 and the six panels in Emersons Green were commisioned by Mason Richards Partnership and David Wilson Homes and designed by Gill Nash. Further information on public art in Gloucestershire (visit link) is available. The complete text of the story is given below and is required to compute the final co-ordinates of the cache:

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!'

Pussy said to the Owl, 'You elegant fowl!
How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?'
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,
His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.

'Dear pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?' Said the Piggy, 'I will.'
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined upon mince, and pieces of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

At the posted co-ordinates are three of the six panels and the other three are just across the road at N51 29.733 W2 28.617. Order the six panels as they occur in the full text of the story above and take the last letter on each panel and convert them to numbers using your phone keypad (e.g. A,B or C = 2, D,E or F = 3 etc.) to give you six numbers N1, N2, N3, N4, N5 and N6, where N1 is the number corresponding to the last letter on the first panel, N2 is the number corresponding to the last letter on the second panel etc.

The final cache is hidden in a camo bag and located at (updated 16th February 2009):

N51 29.(N5+N2) (N1-N3) (N2+N4) W2 28.(N1) (N5) (N6+N4)

Please note that the final location has changed since 16th February 2009 as the previous location was muggled in 2008.
