Let op! De cachebeschrijving is aangepast op 12-11-2014. De stash is niet verplaatst, echter is de opdracht bij de waypoint 6 veranderd!

Het Jekerdal is een natuurgebied en het stroomgebied van het riviertje de Jeker. Het bijzonder mooi gelegen dal wordt begrensd door de Sint Pietersberg aan de oostzijde en de Cannerberg aan de westzijde. Langs de Jeker liggen diverse oude watermolens, zoals de molen van Nekum en molen Lombok. Aan het zuidelijke uiteinde ligt Château Neercanne en aan de andere kant van de grens in België het plaatsje Kanne.
Het dal heeft ernstig te lijden onder verdroging, als gevolg van een daling van het grondwaterpeil. Dit werd enerzijds door de aanleg van het Albertkanaal veroorzaakt en is de laatste jaren versterkt door de dieptewinning van mergel in de nabijgelegen groeve van de ENCI, die voor deze dieptewinning zeer veel grondwater wegpompt naar de rivier de Maas.

De totale tocht is ongeveer 9,5 km lang. De paden zijn over het algemeen redelijk tot goed begaanbaar, maar wandelen met een kinderwagen is niet aanbevolen. Blijf de hele route op de paden, je hoeft ze alleen bij de cache te verlaten. Een rekenmachientje kan handig zijn.
Let op: sommige delen van de route zijn alleen toegankelijk tussen zonsopgang en zonsondergang.

Attention! The cachedescription has been edited on 12-11-2014. The stash hasn't been moved, but from this date the task at waypoint 6 is changed!

The Jekerdal is an area of outstanding natural beauty and basin of the secondary river Jeker. This extraordinary beautiful situated valley is bordered by the Sint Pietersberg on the eastside and the Cannerberg on the westside. Along the Jeker there are several water mills situated, like the mill of Nekum and mill Lombok. At the southern end is Château Neercanne situated and on the other side of the border in Belgium the small town Kanne.
The valley is suffering under extreme scorching, as a result of a decrease of the underground waterlevel. On the one handel this is caused by the construction of the Albertkanaal, and on the other by the winning of marl in the nearby mine from the ENCI, who is pumping a lot of ground water to the river Maas.

The total track is about 9,5 km long. The paths are generally rather good accessible, but walking with a baby carriage isn’t preferable. Stick the whole track to the paths, you only have to leave them at the cache place. A calculator can be useful.
Attention: some parts of the track are only accessible from sunrise to sunset.
