Geocache Description:

Primrose Park is another of those weird North shore parks, on land reclaimed from public works. Until the late 1920's the land was the site of North Sydney's first sewage treatment facility, and the canals and other industrial-looking constructions are still there (thankfully the smell is not).

The cache is named after the poem "Out Where the Dead Men Lie", by Barcroft Boake. Barcroft was a writer and poet who lived in the North Shore area in the late 1900's. Unable to find work in the depression of the 1890s, he hanged himself in 1892, aged 26 from a tree at nearby Folly Point (Near "Molly's Corner"). His tombstone is in St Thomas rest park (near "No Rest for the Wicked")

This cache should be an easy hunt, and could easily be grabbed in the same run as "Molly's Corner". The terrain is easy and you don’t have to stray far from the path to get to GZ. As with any caches in the Sydney area, be watchful for spiders etc at GZ (None were obvious at the time of placement). The cache is the same design as Hydroflare’s containers, so look up the “Cygnet” series of caches for a spoiler (You should do this anyway – they’re a great chain of caches).

The area near GZ seems to get a surprisingly high number of muggles, especially on the weekend, so caution may be necessary. I have included several swaps as well as a new 4Gb USB Key for the FTF, and a 1-Month XBox live subscription card for 2TF.

I am also setting free my first TB, "Barry the Flatback Turtle”. Please help him get to his goal.

Primrose Park is connected to Folly point by a strip of reclaimed bush, so there’s no problem getting round to do “Molly’s Corner”. The area is surprisingly full of wildlife, including some very noisy bell-birds.

The main section of Primrose Park seems to be off-leash, however dogs should be leashed near GZ. The area is fantastic for kids, with barbeque facilities, play areas and a cool bike track for the kiddies in attached Brightmore Reserve (S33° 49.394 E151° 13.525). There is plenty of parking, but the area can get pretty chokkas if there are any games on at the ovals.

This is my first cache placement, so I hope you find it enjoyable. I averaged the co-ords over half an hour, but sat coverage was a little iffy, so please report any issues with their accuracy. They seemed to be on the mark during a test hunt. Please also report any DNFs.

Happy Hunting!
