Letterboxing is the Genesis of Geocaching. This Geocache will require you to use some of those Primitive Geocaching skills..... "Written Directions!" The Cache is hidden in an Undeveloped part of Woodfield Park in Waukesha
Parking Coordinates: N43 00.277 W88 15.179
-
Mark your Parking Coordinates in your GPS
-
Bring your own Pencil or Pen unless you're doing this as a Letterbox.
-
Expect to walk about .35 miles from the Parking Location to the Posted Coordinates, which is a Virtual Location, nothing actually hidden there. It would be a good idea to mark various locations along the way, so you can more easily find your way back out. There are a number of Trails in this undeveloped park that look alike, so marking how you came in, will ensure you can easily find your way back out. As you approach the first waypoint, slow down and allow your GPS time to settle and look for the location described below. The tree cover can make GPS reception difficult
-
At the Posted Coordinates you will find a very Large Oak Tree, next to the Trail. From this Large Oak Tree, head South/West along the Trail until you are approximately 450ft away from the Large Oak Tree. You will be at a "Y" in the Trail. Take the Path well trodden to your "LEFT". A short distance up the trail, near another very Large Oak Tree, the Trail "Y's" again. Take the Trail "RIGHT" at this point. A little Further up the Trail you'll see a LARGE tree that's fallen and stretches across the Trail, which you can walk under. There is also a limb from another large Oak tree that stretches across the trail here too. Continue to follow the trail you are on a little further and you will come to yet another tree that has fallen across the Trail that you can also walk under. Walk along the Trail about 10 Feet beyond this fallen Tree, and you'll come to a "T" in the Trail. Head up the hill to your left. Look for a good Cache hiding location near the edge of the woods. You'll be looking for a smaller round plastic container painted green.
-
There is a Stamp & Ink Pad in the Cache container for those doing this as a Letterbox, along with the conventional Log sheets for logging/Stamping your visit. No Trading items. "Please do not remove the Stamp or Ink Pad"
-
Good luck and I hope you enjoy the natural beauty of this undeveloped park.
