Geocache Description:

The cache is at the most remote road-reachable point in North America, an amazing place, along Canada's Trans-Taiga Road!

"The Trans-Taiga Road is a gravel road that runs 666 km east from near the top end of the James Bay Road. It was built to access the various dams and generating stations that extend upriver along the La Grande River....This is an extremely remote road, leading 666 km east - almost to Labrador - with no settlements or towns aside from Hydro Quebec's settlements for workers (not open to the public). At the far end you will be 745 km from the nearest town! This is the farthest you can get from a town on a road in North America!... Along this road is also the farthest north point you can travel on a road in eastern Canada." --- partial description of the road where this cache is located, from this site.

I placed this cache in a VERY, VERY remote location. The challenge--- and the fun!--- is getting there. Once you're there, the actual cache is an easy find. But it'll take some doing just to get there. It'll involve some four-wheel-drive roads, some camping, and maybe carrying some extra gas.

On our trip there, we saw 5 wolves, 2 bears, and myriad other animals. We also saw the enormous lakes and reservoirs that fill the area. It's very wild, very scenic, and very, very remote.

This site has all the info you'll need about the Trans-Taiga Road and how to safely traverse it: http://jamesbayroad.com/ttr/index.html PLEASE READ IT before trying to get to this cache!

Current maps of the area are somewhat inaccurate. TRUST YOUR GPS more than the maps. For example, some maps show the cache location in the middle of a large reservoir, but it's on solid ground, honest! It's just that the maps of this remote area are only approximate. Just follow the road and trust your GPS, and you'll be fine.

When you bag this cache, you'll really have acomplished something: It's one of the most remote caches in the world! Take a little time to explore the several side roads in the area: They peter out pretty quickly and become impassible, but by exploring the area, you'll be certain you've gone as far as you can--- literally the end of the road system!
