The cache is back with more traditional container, though why anyone would have removed the old one is beyond me.
East point military reserve was during WWII one of the most active military posts in Australia and one of the few that saw a lot of combat action.
Searchlights and their associated towers were key in providing defenses against repeated air attacks. Sadly there is little left of these items, with much being recycled after the war. The large guns nearby and many of the sunken ships in the harbour were recovered by Japan for scrap. An ironic case of recycling.
