50 Private Road Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Up until the mid 1990’s there used to be about a half dozen houses along what is known on the Edison maps as Private Road. For what ever reason, the houses were abandoned and destroyed. However, if you look at the current satellite image on Google Maps, the houses “still” exist. I’m not sure if the address where GZ is located is actually 50 Private Rd. or not, but its close by. You should be able to find remnants of the old houses if you look hard enough.

This area is part of Edison Township’s Open Space Preserve along the Mill Brook. There are some posted signs around but they say that there is no hunting or fishing allowed in the area. You will also see many bike trails and structures that the neighborhood kids have made.

Parking is available at N 40º 30.683 W 074º 22.319. There are two paths that will lead to GZ. You can follow the dirt road which is Private Rd and runs along the NJ Turnpike, or take the dirt trails that start off to the right as soon as you cross over the bridge. This path may be flooded and/or extremely muddy after rain.
Do not access this cache from the NJ Turnpike.

Cache is a small lock-n-lock container camouflaged to blend into the surroundings. It is starting off with a log (only room for date and name), my alwayslooking geocoin, a NJ Instant Lottery Ticket as a FTF prize, and a few other small items. Please bring your own writing instrument and please return container to its hiding spot!

Congratulations to TwoCat on FTF!
