Westbound I-94 Exit 84-B Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ron & Lois: Well, the Ammo Can didn't return, so it is officially stolen by some jerk who must have needed it more than the caching community. This one is dead and a new one is being put out in it's place. Not so obvious, and hidden a little better. We wish it could be another Ammo Can, but since we have already lost two of them to this rest area, we decided we needed to scale back a bit. Watch for the new one soon...

Geocache Description:

Located at the East end of a Highway Rest Area just West of the Galesburg Exit (85 mile marker) in the unmowed area North of the Dog Run Area. Rolling, slightly hilly terrain, but not too long a walk from some parking places - much longer from others. Cache is hidden in a likely spot, in a normal manner.

This is one of two caches placed in this area on the same night. Both were ammo cans - this one still is a larger 50 CAL, and both are a nice walk from the parking area...you can make it shorter by watching where you park and moving your car between caches. This cache was started with a log book, pen and pencil, various toys and geo-trinkets, our sig card and a sig card with a hand made glass torch bead attached.

When we stopped at this rest area on the way home from Detroit last week, we took a waypoint and were amazed to see that this one was lacking any nearby caches. So, now there are two.

Because of the location of this cache, you should only try it from East of Galesburg if you are going on to Kalamazoo, because that is the next exit to get off I-94. Likewise, if you are West of Galesburg, you should get this on your return trip, because you are going back to Kalamazoo first, even if you wanted to continue East. That's also part of the reason we thought we should place two caches here.
