Geocache Description:

Time to take a very short boat trip to Saint Martin Island/Quarantine Island to hunt for a respectably-sized ammo can.

Saint Martin Island/Quarantine Island was originally known as Kamautaurua. It has since gone by a variety of names, including Halfway Island as well as the two names by which it is known today.

The island served as the quarantine station for Otago in the latter 19th and early 20th centuries. There's currently an extensive replanting project underway as well.

More Island information here.

The cache shouldn't be too hard to find with an elevation of 62m. The main exercise is really to get to the island itself and have a stroll around.

Big thanks to The Bohemian's water taxi service for another cache-in-the-harbour! :)
(5 star rating is for boat requirement).
