Linear Runaround Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

tftc2u: This cache archived since second waypoint has been difficult to maintain, probably muggled. Will need to come up with a workaround, but regrettably this cache will be archived until then - sorry!

Geocache Description:

Color-coded Coastal Cardiff Co-linear Clues + Cache

This multicache consists of two clues and the cache. The coordinates above are the coordinates of clue #1.

The clues and the cache are not difficult finds once you get to their GZs - your efforts are in getting there. There is no arduous terrain or bushwhacking. They are easy finds once you get to the GZs.

The three sites are within 2/3 km of each other. They form two almost co-linear equal-length line segments completely in the town of Cardiff.

Unfortunately, these curious statistics are not helpful to your quest :-(

To reach all three, you have to travel much more than 2/3 km. Unless you can fly, the quickest routes between the GZs are not straight lines, and you will have to leave Cardiff to reach the cache.

However, when you do finally reach the cache, you will be at a rarely-visited location in the largest nature preserve in Cardiff. Even though civilization surrounds you, at the cache GZ it's just you and the birds, the fish and the bugs.

Clues #1 and #2 are not written but use the world-famous resistor color code indicating the digits for N dd mm.mmm W ddd mm.mmm - no N, W or decimal points, just 7 + 8 digits.

See if you buy this: the color-coded clues enhance your geocaching experience since there's no rusty container to pry open, no wrinkled piece of paper with faded numbers, no tiny numbers to read, nothing to drop or blow away. You don't even have to touch them: you can read them from a distance.

To some of you, this color code may warrant a puzzle designation. But actually the clues are easier to spot than camo ones. If for some reason you don't know the color code, it's easy to find on Google, or use the clue. This multi is assigned a middling difficulty because of the travel it requires, not because of an imperious cipher.

The cache is a large plastic peanut-butter jar painted brown. The initial contents include trinkets and the MSC1JB Mississippi TB from BACK TO SCHOOL.

Hints and advisories:

#1 The first clue is almost a drive-by, but take a minute to enjoy the panoramic view. You can almost see the #2, but you have some work to do, so take a break here. This one is easy, just to set the hook :-) Now you have to finish it.

#2 Unless it's a busy beach day, parking is usually available on the coast highway. You do not have to go into anyone's campground, but this park is seasonally popular and muggles often abound.

#3 Do not try to get to #3 by following the RR tracks or crossing them. Use an overpass and get to the real entrance. It's legal and safe, and there's plenty of parking. As you approach the GZ, watch out for birds on the lines overhead even if you're wearing a hat: they are indiscriminate.
