Geocache Description:

This cache is initially placed for Go and Get’em 11, and therefore ought not to be sought prior to 1800 h on 26 October 2007. Of course, you’re welcome to do your homework ahead of time…

The cache is not at the posted coordinates, but is within 5 km of them (and you will have to walk, or ski or snowshoe, much of this distance, most of that on well-maintained trails). At the posted coordinates you will find direction towards where you need to be [Update: The sign that was originally at the posted coordinates has been removed - there is no longer anything of use or interest there]. Recommended parking is the nearby P21; P22 is a reasonable alternative (and does minimize the requisite hike), but is closed at night.

To find the cache, you will have to learn some trivia about some non-trivial mammals. In each case, the answer consists of the number of letters in the common name for the particular species (the word “whale” not included, so that each number is a single digit derived from a single word). NOTE: In all cases, the answers are the "English" versions of the names.

A Informal scientific term for “whale” in general (this one's a gimme, folks - look up!).
B This was the preferred target of early whalers.
C En français, this is the “common” whale.
D This whale provided substance to the myth of the unicorn.
E This is the only whale that is pure white (as an adult).

F The largest of the toothed whales.
G This one’s known as a killer.
H Renowned for their songs.
I This one’s not a mammal, it’s a fish!
J Isabella Bay is an important refuge for this species.

Go to the following coordinates:

N 45° 2[A-B].CDE
W 075° 3[F-G].HIJ

There, within a few metres of the trail, you will find an appropriately coloured micro containing the final coordinates for the cache. The last 100 m or so to the cache may be quite wet in springtime, but at least I didn’t see any poison ivy in the area when I scouted it out in early summer.

I have initially stocked the cache with a set of eight different pins from GREMM (Le Groupe de recherche et d'éducation sur les mammifères marins), along with a variety of other whale-themed items and I plan to maintain this theme, whatever trades might be.
