City Island Bridge View Traditional Cache
ThirstyMick: I stopped by on Thursday morning. Looks like someone is living here. Guess it was a good spot ;) I have no idea if the box is still there b/c he was home when I came by,.. walked past, and then back a little later and gave up... I'll try again in a few weeks and remove it if it is there.

Cache is a small Lock-N-Lock in Pelham Bay Park overlooking the
Long Island Sound and the City Island Bridge
At 2,764 acres, Pelham Bay Park is the largest park in New York
City. There are quite a few remarkably beautiful spots that make
you wonder if you're really in New York City. This is one of
them.
From the cache location you can see the City Island Bridge. The
Bridge was designed as a Swing Bridge crossing the Harlem river,
but was moved to City Island in 1901 to replace the existing wooden
bridge. Supported from the center, it originally rotated
horizontally along a track allowing ships to pass. In it's current
location, the bridge is stationary.
The closest parking is at Orchard Beach (fee in the summer months)
you'll find a wide trail on the southern side of "The Meadow" area
of the park. You can also park in Rodman's neck off of the City
Island Traffic Circle, but it's pretty small and usually packed due
to the nearby baseball field. Alternatively, if you'll be doing the
other caches in the area, you may want to park in the lot off of
Middletown road in the neighborhood of Country Club, if you park
here follow the paved trails through the park and over the
drawbridge toward Orchard Beach. It'll be a long walk from here and
I'd recommend a bike! The Bx. 5 & 12 stop at Orchard Beach in
the summer months and the Bx 29 will take you as far as the City
Island Traffic Circle. Take it to the Rodmans Neck Stop. From
Rodmans Neck you'll find a small trail leading toward the
waterfront.
Bring a camera and a bag for CITO!! Please replace the cache
carefully and keep an eye out for muggles!
