The Bridges of Lunenburg County Series is a series of caches placed
on or near bridges along the South Shore, but off the beaten path.
This one could be a very quick park and grab, but the cache is
well-concealed and could present a challenge. Bring a writing
stick.
Broad Cove is just a little off the beaten path, along the
Lighthouse Route that sniffs the Atlantic Coastline connecting
Lunenburg to Liverpool. It's a lovely drive on a sunny day, but
pretty, too, when a storm's a-brewin'. You can choose many ways to
reach Broad Cove. If you travel along the 103 to Liverpool, you can
take Petite Riviere exit (15), or the Vogler's Cove, Cherry Hill,
and Broad Cove (16). But we prefer the scenic route, catching
Highway 331 out of Bridgewater, winding along the LaHave River,
past Rissers and Petite Riviere, enroute to Broad Cove. We placed
several caches in this area during September 2007. Once you're in
Broad Cove, you'll need to find Beach Road. The bridge in question
barely qualifies, but it does offer a lovely view of the
breakwater. Nearby on Broad Cove, you'll find some impressive
houses along the Alantic, including a few on the hill that must
cost a pretty penny. Keep you eyes peeled for sea birds, like
cormorants and great blue herons in season. This cache is very well
camouflaged (see first few logs). If you've found the other caches
in our Bridges of Lunenburg County Series, though, you shouldn't
have a problem.
