Geocache Description:

Lovely site on the Canadian Shield. Requires boat for access. Short walk up to a nice waterfall. NOTE: We have not been back to this area for several years, and don't plan to. This cache depends on other like minded persons to maintain. If not, at some point we will need to archive. For the moment, there always seems to be someone stepping forward to undertake any repairs!! Many thanks!

Cache is a rectangular tupperware container inside a freezer bag (this is Canada remember?) due NORTHEAST of the waypoint. Waypoint is located on the only open area. Contents are a somewhat ratty wire bound Pokemon lenticular notepad, pencil, sharpener, and 2 fishing lures that have never caught anything! We have been coming to this spot a couple of times for the last 12 years (or most of us). The scenery is some of the nicest in the Haliburton highlands. A popular location for summer camps and canoists, so definitely taking a plastic bag and taking out more than you brought in is a fine gesture.

There is a a government dock (ie. free) at either of N45° 08.102' W78° 43.288' -or- N45° 08.743' W78° 44.730' for launching. Also a marina at both sites for rentals. Get a motor boat rather than a canoe if possible - the Big **** Lake is a killer in a wind. Boat ride is 20-40 minutes depending on motor size. The walk is 10 minutes. Boat can be left at N45° 10.780' W78° 44.758'. Be prepared for wet feet in spring/early summer.
