We love driving Highway 331 along the Lahave River, following
the meandering trail as takes you to Lahave, Rissers, Petite
Riviere Village, and Broad Cove. If you'd prefer to go directly to
the cache, though, you can take Exit 15 from the highway.
As you might realize by the name, the area near Petite Riviere
was first settled by French colonists in the 1600s, not long after
Port Royal. It's a pretty area, with a number of attractions,
including: several fantastic beaches (Rissers is a personal
favorite, even in winter), a terrific antique store, several
delighful artist studios, and a Nova Scotia winery with lovely,
rolling vineyards (open weekends in autumn, closed in winter). One
artist put together a map highlighting the area's cultural
attractions, so be sure to pick one up. Bring a picnic lunch, or
pick one up at the bakery in LaHave, and you have the makings of a
pretty good afternoon.
You can cross the bridge to find parking in Petite Riviere.
Might we also recommend
Pariah's Family Cottage Cache if you're in the area.
