Geocache Description:

Savasos (Shavashos) Takas is a 1.5 km nature experience trail along the Savasa river, which flows into Sventoji old riverbed near the Antaliepte town. Savasa - is a real mountain river. Its changing mood, and a pleasant purling will guide you along the route, and high banks will thrill you and even demand from you a certain hiking skill.

Along the trail you’ll find the information stands that tell you about the river and its natural surroundings – beavers’ nests, Luzai forest, and history of Earth. Three geological info stations – petrographical, geomorphological, fluvial, as well as topographical information show how this place was created on Earth. And even more – back in 16th century the steep river banks used to hide an ancient Lithuanians’ sanctuary. Its legacy is Luzu Akmuo – a big round stone with altar. If you get tired – a tiny corner called Isle of Love will calm you down with water purling in through stones.

The trail finishes with a cute forest classroom – several wooden desks with benches each under own small roof – to let you listen to a sound of our mother nature.

Access is from south-east entrance to Antaliepte town, turn right from the main road at the wooden sign “Savasos Takas” (Waypoint 1) to the small road which will guide you uphill between the houses. Continue on the main road, enter the forest, cross the small bridge, and you’ll see a big wooden “lyra” sign with the “Savasos” title on it and a small wooden hand pointing to the right (Waypoint 2). Turn right and after another 100 m - here you are! This is starting point of the trail, marked with a big info stand.

You can also continue by car on the road, along the trail (but missing lots of enjoy!), until you reach a car park located near the mid point of the trail.

Here at the mid point you’ll find a campfire, wooden pavilion with table under roof, and a wooden ladder down to the riverbed. Luzu altar stone isn’t far, go downstairs and then follow signs going left along the riverbed.

Shavasha River is most waterful in Spring. In early Autumn it's thirsty. In Winter the river could be frozen, but the forest will tell you the fairy tale!
