Geocache Description:

Interesting walk to a cache. Replaced with hanging ornament.

The only entrance is at the end of Paidge Avenue. Parking is very difficult...if not impossible...during the work week.

In the shadows of the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, residents and visitors alike can go on a nature walk. The Department of Environmental Protection, which operates the sewage plant, officially opened the Newtown Creek Nature Trail on September 29, 2007 (and it was cached the next day!)

Great views of the Newtown Creek and the city skyline. Two tables for picnics, benches, water fountains, lots of native vegetation and some interesting sculptures. One honors the native Americans who lived in the area and face in the direction of their encampments. Another is a map of the drainage basin of the creek. There is also a stairway that leads into the Creek with little handrail thingies that help you up the steps. Bring a kayak or a canoe. Just watch the pollutants in the Creek.

The park is open dawn to dusk weather permitting. There is a high muggle factor depending on weather and time of day. Bring your own writing implement. Please be careful when you retrieve and return .
