Geocache Description:

This is an offset cache that will have you gather info at the posted coordinates for the final cache, which is a camoed Lock&Lock container. You can start any place, but there is off-street parking at: N 38 24.429 W 085 22.803 or N 38 24.522 W 085 22.748. On Saturday mornings there is a Farmer's Market on the courthouse lawn, so watch out for mugglers. There are sidewalks or walking paths for most of the tour, which is about 0.7 miles long

It starts as a low rumble. Then, the bells. Next, vibrations. Most first-time visitors to historic downtown La Grange are astounded as a freight train rolls through town. Yes, a train runs through it – right down the center of Main Street. Up to 30 trains a day come through (very slowly) this county seat of Oldham County, Kentucky, much to the delight of locals and tourists alike.

Part I- Questions to answer:

A. Go to the listed coordinates. There you will find a sign about the History of Oldham County. At the end of the information is a 4 digit number. Take the last digit and multiply it by 5.

B. Go to N 38° 24.471 W 085° 22.771 and find USGS Benchmark HZ1089. It is in the concrete walk that leads to the south courthouse entrance but it is always under water. (You can log this find separately if you like.) Note the last digit of the number stamped under the triangle and subtract 7.

C. Go to N 38 24.437 W085 22.777. Note 3-digit address and subtract 118. BTW, on Saturday or Sunday mornings you may see me here having breakfast with Norma Jean and surfing the web. Look for the laptop with the large UCONN decal.

D. Go to N 38 24.468 W 085 22.669 and note: the difference in price between the Daily and Sunday editions on the newspaper sold in the newspaper box on the corner and multiply it by 4. On weekdays you may see me inside sipping a latte with Karen and surfing the web.

E. Go to N 38 24.525 W 085 22.670 and note the last two digits of the phone number on the sign on the southeast corner and subtract 54.

F. Go to N 38 24.417 W 085 22.616 It is Christmas all year round at this building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Note: the number above the sign and subtract 198.

Part II Finding the cache:Exchange your answers in part I for the letters in the coordinates below:

38 24.ABC
085 22.DEF

Depending on the route that you take to the cache you may pass GRQ1HR: Tribute to JEANNEWEANIE The FTF prize is good for two of the best coffee drinks in town. Of course there will be swag for trade too!(especially for kids)

Please replace container as you found it. If you have trouble closing the container, there may be something sticking out.
