Geocache Description:

Poulsen Peal is a recently named mountain peak overlooking Squaw Valley. It was named in memory of Wayne Poulsen a founder of Squaw Valley and the ski corporation of the same name. From the top most of Squaw Valley and the ski area are visible.
The peak is accessible from a trail near the entrance of the valley. A gated dirt road is located in a subdivision at N39 12.724, W120 12.138 (the gate is 0.15 miles from the start). Do not block the access. The trail starts as a dirt road and slowly turns into a hardly visible single track. There are some red ribbon trail markers but these are slowly disappearing. There are at least 4 crossroads. Turn left and up at each. It is recommended to use the GPS to breadcrumb your trail. The first time I hiked this, we got lost returning (no GPS). The hike is about 2.6 miles, 1450 feet elevation gain and about 75 minutes one way. An alternate route is to park in the Ski Corporations parking lot and bushwhacking it to the top.
The cache is a standard ammo can. It initially contained an article on Poulsen Peak and Wayne Poulsen. There is also a picture of the Poulsen family. There were at least 20 tradable items and a FTF prize. This should be an easy find once there.
Enjoy the views.
