This
military-themed cache is situated in a little known forest
enclave within a subdivision of Richmond Hill. Part of the Oak
Ridges Moraine, these lands are home to varied wildlife, even
coyotes!
Coyotes are wolf-like, weighing between 20-50 lbs and standing
roughly 2 ft. tall. They are quite lean, with large bushy tails and
range in colour from white-grey to a reddish tint. The nose and
ears tend to be pointed. Main prey are rabbits and other small
mammals. There is a pack in the area and they can be heard hunting
each evening in these woods. A second pack is located in the
Jefferson Forest tract of the Oak Ridges Moraine north of Gamble
Road. While elusive and rarely seen, their extensive howling,
yipping and yelping during a hunt is quite loud but beautiful. We
noticed they often howl in response to a fire truck siren! Watch
for tracks, keep quiet and perhaps if you are lucky you might see
one!
The coyote is also the name of a Light Armoured Reconnaissance
Vehicle (LAV) utilized by the Canadian Armed Forces. Equipped with
surveillance gear, the Coyote is the "eyes and ears" of the troops.
The data collected gives commanders and soldiers the info needed to
operate effectively on the battlefield.

The cache is a medium-sized lock & lock container located
approximately 30 metres off a short woodland trail.
