If you consider yourself a serious geocacher you should at least
read about this first cache
here, which is the page for
ORIGINAL STASH TRIBUTE PLAQUE geocache. Lots of information there
and if you are in the Portland area with a little time you owe it
to yourself to visit the tribute plaque and cache which are about
20 minutes off I-205. I thought my pilgrimage there was pretty neat
and it is usually full of travel bugs.
In addition there are two short video clips that are worth
seeing. One is the placing of the plaque for the original cache
which includes a shot of Dave Ulmer. The second one is amazing in
that Dave Ulmer films himself in 2000 showing the contents and
logbook for the first cache. You can download those short videos
here. He had just a small inkling of
the what he was about to create.
So, this cache is a tribute to that first cache. It shouldn't be
too hard to find since it is patterned after the original
container. While his was buried, mine is not. This area is also a
great opportunity to practice CITO.
