Geocache Description:

This cache was named because of the different elevations Lake Travis exhibits throughout the year. During a dry period, the level of the lake is likely to be lower than normal, exposing shoreline that is normally hidden below the waterline. During a flood stage, the lake seems much larger because now most of the shoreline is submerged.

Regardless of pool elevation (normal elevation is 681ft above sea level), you will never see this cache exposed since it rests at a depth of 74ft. This cache requires scuba equipment appropriate for seasonal diving in Texas lakes. When pool elevation is above 667ft, this cache location changes from an open water dive to an advanced deep dive, requiring the use of special techniques and equipment. YOU MUST BE A CERTIFIED AND COMPETENT DIVER TO ATTEMPT THIS CACHE.

The cache container is a plastic toolbox that is tethered to a dynamite blasting hole in a large boulder, left over from when the dam was built. It's contents is tethered with carabiners to eyebolts inside the toolbox. If you are going to bring a trinket to the depths of Lake Travis, make sure it is made of non-corroding material (no paper products or metal items). Preferable is something made from plastic that has a loop in it, or a small piece of line attached.

The cache also contains a slate to be used as a log, but you must bring your own pencil. Keep your comments short as space on the slate is limited. If you can take a picture of the cache once you have added/removed items, it would be greatly appreciated.

From the GPS coordinates, take up a heading of approx 150 degrees, and swim for roughly 185ft until reaching a depth of 74ft (depending absolutely on pool elevation). It is important that you check the daily lake level to make sure you know the depth the cache is located at. At an elevation of 681ft, the cache can be found at 74ft of water depth.
