Geocache Description:

This cache will let you explore an area of Bare Cove Park that is scarcely visited. There are several other caches to pick up in Bare Cove Park. Be prepared for a fairly long hike. You'll be walking (or bike riding or running) on paved roads and dirt trails with some good elevation changes for up to 2 miles, depending on the paths you take.

Congrats to gonascar for braving the weather and being FTF!

A cunning but scatterbrained scientist has hidden data to a secret experiment that has the potential to change the world. The problem; he can’t remember how to find it.

The scientist’s path to the secret plans will test you in two ways. Are you a good detective, a good crime scene investigator, or both?

Each stage has the coordinates to the next stage. This page has clues that will reveal info on certain items/knowledge you must bring with you in order to find the stages. However, if a stage needs a physical item, everything you need will be found on-site near the stage. If you’re a clever detective, you may need none of the provided apparatus, as you’ve done your homework and brought your tools/knowledge. This path will save time. If you’re a crime scene investigator, you’ll need to carefully study the environment to reveal placements of tools/knowledge you’ll need.

The first set of coordinates will lead you to stage 1. Every stage has coordinates to the next stage. Fear not, this is a multi, not a puzzle. Those who have done their homework will just have an easier time finding the final.

Stage 1:

The coordinates that you have loaded into your GPS will bring you here.

The scientist, ever the mathematician, has hidden the first set of coordinates using an equation. If you solve the equation, the answer will give you a number. Why is this number important? If you can’t solve the problem fret not; the scientist just believes in “safety in numbers”.

Stage 2:

The scientist, also having a mind for botany, hides the second stage in an atypical place. The hiding spot is 4.938947e-17 Parsecs from crust to Strobili. Be careful here. The tree cover just kills the satellites and I had a tough time getting good coordinates over 2 days.

Stage 3:

The scientist, having a sophisticated lab, has access to the deadliest chemicals. Here, he hides the third stage in a manner that will require 271 US Tablespoons of dihydrogen monoxide, also know as Hydric acid. This is a particularly nasty chemical that once in the lungs may cause death. In gaseous form, this chemical causes severe burns. Please, do not physically move stage 3!

Stage 4:

This is the final Stage with the cache. The scientist spent so much time on the first three stages that he rather blandly hid the final. But boy did he find a killer view!
