Geocache Description:

Description – This is a hiking cache, along the White Rocks Trail and ending on PA State Game Lands. There are some views along the way depending on the leaf cover. Also, there are rock formations and it’s a nice section of woods to stroll through. It’s best in the fall, especially leaf season.

Warnings – Terrain is 3.5+ due to overall length of about 4 miles with 400’ elevation gain going out and another 100’ coming back. Lots of rocks. Big rocks. 2 hours would be a fast time. Please come prepared and think carefully about bringing small children and pets. The clues are easy, just designed to point out the trails. Please avoid during hunting season and follow all of the game commission rules referenced below. Also, please avoid the private property (juvenile facility) to the south of the final cache location. On the SGL map referenced below, this is the section cutout from the eastern side. Please email me if you are interested in additional waypoints for some of the other trails. Not a good choice in icy or snowy conditions.

Directions – Gather the clues along the way and they will lead you to the cache.
Letters translate as: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9, J=0. Final cache at N40 07.wx6 W77 06.yz9.

1. Initial coord’s are parking, trail head and first clue – what does the parking lot sign (the sign by the road) say? w = second word, third letter.
2. Proceed to the back of the parking lot and follow the blue trail. The trail zigzags a bit uphill to N40 07.626 W77 05.464. At this spot (at the top of the hill and on the left side as you come up), there is a blue arrow painted on something (rock or tree). This is the only clue that isn't on a sign. x = 3rd letter of this word.
3. From here, head over the rocks to a campsite at N40 07.400 W77 06.251. There was a sign here, now it's missing. y = D or 4.
4. Follow the white trail a short distance to N40 07.407 W77 06.327. Notice the plaque that was recently restored, then find the nearby elevation sign; z = first word, first letter times 3.
5. There are two trails down, either the shorter but rougher one to the left of where you came in, or backtrack to the campsite and continue on the white trail down. Either path should get you close to the final without bushwhacking.
6. Final is an ammo can at N40 07.wx6 W77 06.yz9. As a double-check, w+x+y+z = 19. Good luck and be safe.
