Geocache Description:

This is a Flash Mob Event, part of the World Wide Flash Mob occurring simultaneously around the globe organized by iTrax and Foxtail in Sunny San Diego, CA (see this page for more information on the WWFM). Please BYOP!

If you want to check out the video of a Geocaching Flash Mob Event in May, go to this link.

The video of our event is on You Tube and can be seen here!

The montage of all 83 events presented by Pablo Mac can be seen here.

All attendees have been entered in to a drawing hosted by iTrax and Foxtail (yep, still in Sunny SanDiego)! The drawing was on their Monday, 3 December2007 Podcast!

The "2" difficulty is for the fact that the limited time will make it tough to log if you aren't prompt and dilligent... You MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim the event.

The Plan: At exactly 11:00am (as determined by the GPS clock) we will place a bucket full of nice, new swag at the coordinates. We will place a small CD player on the ground near the bucket to play some pleasant, upbeat music. One volunteer will hand out "log sheets". Participants will sign the log sheets (which will later become a log book), to qualify for attendance and drop them in a designated collection box. Bring a pen! Participants may trade swag via the swag bucket at any time. We encourage you to bring nice swag to trade. Another volunteer will hand out raffle tickets. Another volunteer will hand out name tags and markers. If any muggles are curious about the event we will have a volunteer hand out fliers that explain geocaching. At a designated time, we will toss out Pizza flavored Chips, Hershey Kisses, and other chocolate candies to all attendants for the event "meal" (Pizza and dessert). At a designated time, we will take a group photo. At a designated time, we will call out the raffle winners. At precisely 11:15 the bucket, and the log sheets will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will be vacated without a trace. Events that happen after 11:15:01 do not count as part of THIS event. Only those participants whose names appear on the log sheets may log the event. We hope to gather a "good showing" of cachers at this event. Tell your friends and help promote the event. Suggestion: COME EARLY TO FIND PARKING. Parking can be difficult to find. If you can't find parking you might miss the event! Note: Although participants are welcome to get together for brunch after the event. The event will officially be over at 11:15. At brunch, participants may chat, meet, eat and plan for a day of caching in Copperas Cove. I'm sure there will be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What did I just see? What just happened?"

Itinerary:

10:20 AM
Core Volunteers meet at “secret chosen area” to organize, plan and prep.

10:45 - 10:59
Participants: Mill about and mosey. Be non-challant and casual. Look like a muggle. Don't look like a gathering waiting to happen. Mosey as realistically as you can. This is part of the fun. We will seem to appear out of no-where.

10:58
Bill50here will begin filming video for the entire event to capture the moments (videographer).

11:00
Simultaneously:
SDAJumpmaster will walk to ground zero with a bucket of swag and announce, “Come and get it!”. (bucket watcher) This is the signal that the event has begun!
Mrs. Turtle428 & Little Turtles will hand out log sheets (logger)
Fyrhydrantwill hand out raffle tickets (raffler)
SDAMommy will hand out name tags and markers (tagger)
SDANutMeg will put a CD (boom box style) player for some pleasant, upbeat, caching music, including the caching PUMP of course! (Facilities manager)
Rose_Bud will be taking pictures of the event (photographer)
3Zimmers will set up portable table and signage (facilities manager)
Machacek Family will hand out Geocaching explanation sheets to curious muggles (promotions manager)
SDAJumpmaster will hand out schedules to participants (information manager)
SDASweetpea1 will prep the Pizza, Hershey's Kisses (HKs), and other candies for distribution (food services manager)

Participants: fill out log sheets and drop them in the collection box
Participants: fill out name tags with caching names and stick 'em on

11:00 - 11:05
Participants: Mingle. Share stories. Brag. Trade swag. Take pictures. Sign the log (sheets). CITO the local area!

11:05
SDASweetpea1 & SDANutMeg prep Pizza, HKs, and chocolates, and call participants over announcing “Soup’s on!”

11:05:15
Participants: Go over to the feeding area for Hershey's Kisses
Hershey's Kisses are tossed out (as an official "meal")
Photographer preps to take group photo
Participants: Make sure to CITO your foil wrappers.

11:09 All Volunteers prepare to rally everyone to photo area and help organize (sitting, squatting, standing, etc.) for group photo.

11:12

Prize Raffle Drawing Fyrhydrantwill call out winning numbers and hand out prizes.
Several prizes
FTF honors will be awarded as one of the raffle prizes.

11:14
One minute warning is called by KangaDrew "It is now 11:14!"
Participants: Prep to leave, but don't "look" like you are prepping. (You might want to "secretly" organize where you will re-form after dispersal.)

11:14:30 KangaDrewannounces, “You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here!”

11:15 EXACTLY
Participants: Wait for it ... then LEAVE the area (right at 11:15) and meet elsewhere if desired. We want to clear the videotaping area (we will continue to tape for a minute or so) to show us "vacate".
The bucket of swag will be packed up (SDAJumpmaster)
The table and signage will be packed up (3Zimmers & SDANutMeg))
The log sheet collection box will be packed up and sealed (Mrs. Turtle)
We will leave the area to go ... elsewhere.

11:17
Bill50here will end the taping

(Also available on the H.O.T. Forum Site).

Do not show up at the library prior to 11:00 AM Sharp! Stay parked or nearby, but for the Flash Mob to have its full effect, it must appear to come from nowhere and disappear just as quickly. Volunteers please email or post such below.

If anyone would like to have post-event geoherds, indicate link-up points in your note logs below, so people have a place to congregate...
