Geocache Description:

Congratulations to Zeigs, Navig8r & Jeepman87 for FTF on 10-08-07!

Thought this cache would provide a little variety as it can most effectively be found only at night. Tried to put this in a more populated area to alleviate the 'creepy factor' but most of the parks are closed at night.

This is located in the '909' starting from the parking lot just off the Taconic. The coordinates indicate the first marker which is approximately 75 feet from the parking lot. The cache is a home made PVC container, about 5" long, with a log and pencil. There is no room for trade items. It is four feet off the trail and the only time you need to leave the trails at all. All the trails traveled are well worn and should be easy to see. The distance from the first marker to the cache is slightly under a mile. This cache is also winter friendly.

Here is some information on how to track the cache.
- Markers can be seen most easily if the flashlight is held at eye level. Each cacher should have their own light as it is difficult to see the marker from another persons light.
- Markers are in a tree directly on either side of the trail, approximately eight feet high, with the exception of one left turnoff which is somewhat lower. One section of the trail was found to have markers already existing which are not a problem.
- You will lose sight of the next marker for a couple of minutes on a trail with no turnoffs. Keep the faith!
- A single marker designates to continue straight ahead, two markers is a right or left turn and three is the cache. For a turn, if the top marker is left of the bottom marker, it is a left turn. Vise versa for a right turn. Two markers side by side is most likely a deer (we saw three). The diagram below indicates what to look for.
After making a turn, you will find a marker within a hundred feet or so as an indication you are on the correct trail. The cache has a double set of three markers at different heights in the event that any of them become dislodged.
It may be a good idea to bring an extra flashlight. Also, it could be helpful to know how to use the trackback function on the gps.
Finally, READ THE NOTE IN THE LOG!
