The dog days of August strayed into October and it is just now
getting pleasant outside, so let's get together and put the cooler
weather to good use!
Bring your GPS, a chair and appetite and meet some of your
fellow geocachers. Bring the kids, bring a friend, but please,
leave the pets at home!
Advice will be available on paperless caching, caching
etiquette, how to find a cache, how to hide a cache and most
anything else you might want to know about geocaching.
There are at least 19 caches on this Landtrust property,
including an EarthCache and one of the oldest caches in Alabama,
and most, if not all, have not been hunted since July, so after we
meet, greet and eat, we will go hunt a few.
Trail maps for the area will be available along with a printed
list of the caches on the property (to include coordinates). After
we eat, there will be a short talk on map reading, coordinate
systems and map plotting
I will provide hickory smoked chicken, burgers, dogs and
toothpicks. The balance of the meal will be potluck (that means
everybody else brings beans or tater chips, soft drinks, cookies,
etc.) We will shoot for eating around noon. Bring the family, bring
a friend and plan on staying awhile.
Please note, you must sign the Official Event Logbook in order
to post an "Attended" log.
See you there!
