Fare Thee Well BN2 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

swimmrguy: As bluenoserstoo have started their journey out west today, it is time to put this event into the scrapbook. Again, I want to extend my thanks to the Kingston Area Geocachers for the tremendous effort put forward for this event. The placement of 47 new caches--and ones that were very well thought out--was an excellent tribute to our friends.

All the best to BN2 as they start this journey into a new beginning!

Geocache Description:

In January 2008, bluenoserstoo will be leaving Kingston, and moving onto a new and exciting chapter of their caching lives. This event is to celebrate the contribution they have made to the caching community of the Kingston area.

A dynamic duo, bluenoserstoo started caching in the summer of 2006 while living in Manitoba. In the fall of 2006, they burst onto the caching scene in Kingston. They quickly became famous for their evil micro hides--such as "Looking for Deawood..." (GCZ7VM) and "Stop 'N Cache" (GC1409B) and very creative hides--such as "Make the Voices Stop" (GC130WA) and "Looking for Deadwood...Again!" (GC13RJ4). They blew away the competition on the FTF Frustration series, and demonstrated unprecendented tenacity in achieving FTFs on caches like the notorious "AMIAT...oh, hum" (GC13W86) and "PAIN in the ASPIRATION" (GC156F0)

We felt that the best way to send them off to their new adventures was to have an event cache, along with a series of caches placed in their honour. We welcome all to participate--by placing a new cache and coming to the event. And if you are new to geocaching, this is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow cachers in the area. You can also think of it as a warm-up to the Christmas party season! Please carefully note the details below:

Part I - Celebratory Caching from November 30th 1800h to December 1st 1100h

  1. Between now and November 28th, hide a cache in the Kingston or surrounding area. Remember, bluensoserstoo particularly like urban micros, tough hides and no hints! So be creative (and may be a little evil too.) There are a few things you can do to help the cache reviewers with these hides.
    • Please do not wait until the last minute to place the cache and submit your listing. Give the reviewers plenty of time to review and post all caches.
    • When you submit the cache, be sure to leave a reviewer note stating "Please do not publish until November 29th. This is for the GC16EWH event."
    • Please help us with cache identification by beginning the cache name with BN2 (for 'bluenoserstoo'). For example, if your cache is to be called "Not AMIAT Cache!," please call it "BN2 - Not AMIAT Cache!"
    • To remind the reviewers to hold publishing these caches until November 29, CacheDrone has requested that you also preface the cache title with "Nov 29: " (using the example above, it would be Nov 29: BN2 - Not AMIAT Cache!) Once the cache is published, you can edit the cache page and delete the Nov 29 from the title.
    • All caches placed for the event will be published on Thursday evening so you can plan your routes and solve any puzzles.
  2. On your cache page, clearly state that your cache cannot be logged until after 6:00 p.m., November 30th and any logs before then will be deleted.
  3. If you're placing a multi-cache and/or puzzle, be sure to use the "additional waypoints" feature on the cache creation page to allow reviewers quicker access to determining boundary limitations.
  4. Geocachers participating in this event can head out to find as many caches as they can from 6:00 p.m., November 30 until the start of the event at 11:00 AM on December 1st.
We will try to have all the caches listed as a bookmark link on this page just prior to the event. To help with the bookmark list, please email swimmrguy the GC number of your cache that was placed for the event.

Part II -- Lunch Time! December 1st 1100 - 1300h

For lunch, we will be meeting at Doffer's. Here you can have a bite to eat, chat with fellow cachers, exchange caching stories, travel bugs and hints to those impossible finds! Doffer's has a free WiFi hotspot, so feel free to bring your wireless laptops/PDAs.

(at the posted co-ordinates)

Part III -- The Gift Exchange Celebration 1300 - 1400h

  • With Christmas being just around the corner, a KAG style gift exchange will take place.
  • To participate, each cacher should bring a wrapped gift (we suggest $5 - 10 limit) suitable for the same age group--children bring a child-appropriate gift, adult for adult..

When you post a "Will Attend" log on this page, please indicate how many will be in your party with a breakdown between adults and children and the ages of the children, i.e. 5 and under, 5 to 10, etc.

Check back often for further updates. A note will be posted whenever this page is updated--so putting this page on your watchlist will keep you in the loop of any changes. We look forward to seeing you there!
