Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the pioneer section of the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in northeastern Decatur County. The Throp monument is a metal one made by the Detroit Bronze Co. I have seen a few of these metal monuments, but never one so tall and ornate. You can see it way down the road on your way to the cemetery. I'm not sure what the anchor on the top of it is for. James B. Throp was born in 1815 in Monmouth County, New Jersey which is along the coast so maybe he was from a seafaring family. He moved here with his father at age 6 and died in 1884.
The James Kerrick monument was also made by the Detroit Bronze Co.
Please visit only during daylight hours.

FTF prize is a "TFTC" Geocoin.
