This is the 7th in a series of caches touring the area water towers ! (Special thanks to Garnerway and GranPa Alex for getting the idea started).
This Series came about and has grown because these towers are such dramatic landmarks in our communities. Where else can you point to something miles away and say, “that looks like a great spot for a cache!!”? The North Carolina Central Area Cache Loggers Enterprise (NC-CACKLE) is a loosely formed group of cachers dedicated to the betterment of GeoCaching in Lee & Moore Counties and their surrounding areas.
The respective counties, and this area in general, realized a few years back that one of the requirements to move from a rural agricultural based economy to an industrial and commercial economy was to move away from individual well systems and onto municipal water supplies. To support that effort, many water towers were erected around the area. (The structures at this cache were very early predecessors in this effort, but are certainly keeping within the spirit of this series.)
This is a simple multi that can be walked if necessary, but it is just as easy to drive. It can be done in less than an hour and each stage is fairly simple. You won’t need to be a math whiz, but double check before moving on to the next stage
Stage 1 is a very unique location. Take a minute to read up on its significance and how it may have been a key player in the development of geocaching!! Convert the first dates into MMDDYYYY and subtract 4,584,461. The answer is 6 digits as NNNWWW. The coords for Stage 2 are 35º 11.NNN and 79º 28.WWW.
Stage 2 is a little known location as well (isn’t that what multis are all about?). Look behind you to see the item described. Same drill as the previous stage. Convert the date to MMDDYYYY and subtract 8,276,489. The answer is 6 digits as nnnwww. The coords for the cache are 35º 11.nnn and 79º 28.www.
As always, PLEASE put the container back exactly as you found it so that others may enjoy the hunt.
