The Lewis & Clark Expedition camped near this location 22 July, 1805, on their westward journey towards the Pacific Ocean. While the creek was renamed as Beaver Creek by the two white explorers, the Native peoples had always known the area as White Earth Creek.
White Earth is now a Bureau of Reclamation campground. There are 40 designated campsites, handicapped accessible restrooms, and drinking water. The campground is near fishing and boating access; a boat launch is provided.
**NOTE: Due to the number of encounters with rattlesnakes last summer, I've moved this geocache to a location that should not be such a problem -- but it is a good idea to double check before grabbing the container.**
