Geocache Description:

CARLSBAD CITY WIDE TRAIL SYSTEM 450 feet ABOVE SEA LEVEL.

It was once our privilege and honor to be blessed with a family member who was the sweetest tempered Black Labrador Retreiver in the world. Pepper loved this trail. She was the only dog I ever knew who was easier to control off leash than on. She rarely left our sight and when she did, a short whistle would bring her bounding with a grin and a wag. It was her way of saying, "Shucks, were you worried about me?" She has gone on before us now but we can't walk this trail without the good memories crowding in. The cache is actually hidden well below her point which doesn't have a good hiding place for a cache. Continue up to the top for a great 360 degree panorama and try to visualize a beautiful black dog on high alert as she surveys the world with you. Her spirit is here. The cache is a step and a long arm's reach from the edge of the trail. Reconceal very carefully due to the proximity of the main trail. Carlsbad City Wide Trail System rules apply. Read the rules at the trail head where you park on El Fuerte St.
