This cache is located at a trail up the hill from the Darlington
turn off on Rt. 30. Please use the posted trail head to avoid
walking up the driveway located near the parking coordinates.
These rocks always have at least a little trickle running down
them. If you visit the cache after a good rain or as the winter
snow is melting, expect to find more then just a trickle. You might
want to bring a change of clothes to retrieve the cache if you do
it at those times (HINT!!).
Satellite reception near GZ is really bad (you’ll
understand once you get there) so the hint is a dead give away,
please only use it if you are totally stumped.
A slight bit further up the trail is an interesting little built
up campsite area.
NOTE IF APPROACHING FROM ROUTE 30 WEST (LIGONIER SIDE): Turn off
Rt.30 at the 30W TURN way point below and follow Idlewild Hill Rd
to the bottom, at the stop sign go right until you reach the
parking area. Failure to do so will require you to go several miles
down the road to find a turn around point, as Rt 30 is a divided
highway as it goes through Loyalhanna Gorge.
A flashlight may help.
Note: If you want to see a spectacular view of the Loyalhanna
Gorge and the adjacent mine, check out
this cache, which is along the same trail and parking area. I
came accros the area where my cache is at while doing this other
cache a while back.
