ammo box hidden in woods off 122 in Petersham
This is a nice little wooded trail cache off 122 in Petersham. From 122 turn onto Quaker Drive. Note: There is a sign that says "Road closed from April 1 to November 1". You can ignore that, you can still park where you need to park. Drive down quaker drive and parking is on your left before a bridge in a little cleared area. There is a green gate with the number 25 on it. Walk down this way to start your hike. Start on main trail (behind green gate) and follow it straight for awhile until you come to a fork. At fork, stay to the right. You will come to the remnants of a rock wall, go right. You will come to a stream, stay straight. At a "T" intersection, take a right down the hill, you will go over a little bridge..it's safe. At the next "T" take a right. Follow this for awhile and then take a left up a hill at the next fork. This is a steady climb uphill and at this point, start to pay attention to your GPS. You will eventually see a rock wall off to your left and leave the marked trail to the wall where you will find the cache. Before you leave the trail however, notice where the trail takes a sharp right between two trees. This is where you should leave the trail to go to the rock wall on your left. After you find the cache, retrace steps back to car. It should take about 30 minutes. Enjoy, very scenic, quiet area. NOTE: "A litle Birdie told me" cache is located only about 600 feet away, so make sure you do that one too...beautiful scenic lookout nearby this cache.
