Back in the Day, the Western Maryland Railroad built a rail siding in Hancock, Md. that stretched over two miles through town. This siding allowed for the many goods of commerce to be loaded or unloaded onto a variety of rolling stock cars (not Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon...wrong stock cars).
This cache is located at the site of that siding, as well as the site of a packing shed and tall steel structure used to load freight cars. This structure has a fold-down ramp which would extend over the rail cars. Trucks hauling sand, stone, mineral aggregates and a variety of grains would back up to and dump their loads down the ramp and into the freight cars below. Kind of crude, huh? Kind of awesome historically!
There is no need to go into or climb around this steel behemoth. The cache is not there, but nearby. The cache is small, containing a logbook and room for smallish swag. TB's and coins are welcome. Please trade equal or up in quality.
