Grandalf: This cache had been placed with permission of the landowner on private land within one metre of the road. The landowner no longer wants the cache there. So I am archiving it, and Version 2 is likely to appear soon over near Avarua. There are many opportunities for new caches along various historic parts of the Ara Metua - in particular the ancient marae site. If you are thinking of placing a cache on the island, then get a scooter and go exploring the Ara Metua. Or else place it on the summit of Te Manga, the highest point on the island.

Geocache Description:

An easy cache on the island of Rarotonga

Rarotonga is the main island in the Cook Islands, a delightful tropical island in the Pacific, a lovely place to holiday – and now to find a new geocache.
This cache is near the Muri Lagoon on the opposite side of the island from the main town of Avarua. It is about 30km around the island. There are many wonderful places to stay on the island, and lots to see and do.
The cache has been placed on private property with permission of the property-owner, who has agreed to maintain it. The property has great beach-front accommodation (where we stayed) - so be very nice to the proprietors.
You will find the cache on the seaward side of the main road, just inside the boundary hedge. When placed, the 1 litre camo snaplock contained: paper cutter, contact lens holder, two green dice, two heart-shaped stones(coral), the usual logbook, pencils and sharpener, and TB BigglesBug and TB Kiwis on the Map.

Small note on cache maintenance: A local friend, who will be creating a geocaching account, will maintain the cache. Name and contact info on file with geocaching.com.
