WWFM - Northwest Arkansas Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Gratefulldad: Time to close this one down. We had a lot of fun and met alot of people in that SHORT 15 minutes. I hope to see everyone again and perhaps meet many more at my next WWFM. As of now the World wide total was 4406 people. It looks like the date Sonny and Sandy are planning for the next one is April 26th or May 10th, 2008.

Till then, happy caching

This is one of MANY coordinated geocaching flash mob events being held around the world. This event is coordinated in conjunction with the San Diego WWFM hosted by iTrax and FoxTail. Here is a link to their profile: http://tinyurl.com/bofa5

However this one is going to be done Gratefulldad style. The twist is that everyone must wear a silly or outrageous hat. Any hat will do, but the more bizarre the better. There will be a prize for the winner. I will be wearing a jester hat. Oh and if your wondering, "Do I really need to wear a hat?" Yes! No hat - no log for event. This will make for a great group photo! ;^)

Flash Mob: a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, and then quickly disperse.

DATE: Saturday, November 10, 2007

TIME: 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM (Yes, only 15 minutes!)

WHERE: Pinnacle Hills Promenade, Rogers, Arkansas

This Flash Mob event will be only 15 minutes long. You MUST be present and sign the log sheet DURING this time to claim this event. After 15 minutes, it's over! This event will last exactly 15 minutes, not one second longer!

This event will be one small part of the WWFM (world-wide flash mob event). This event (and all others around the globe in their respective time zone) will begin precisely at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 10. At exactly 11:00 AM (as determined by your GPS clock) a bucket for log sheets will be placed near the coordinates. As you arrive, you’ll be handed a "log sheet." Participants will sign the log sheets (which will later become the log book). To qualify for attendance, drop them in the designated bucket. Bring your own pen!!! Everyone who signs the log will have their name entered in a prize drawing along with names from all other WWFM events.

At exactly 11:00 AM, I will put my hat on signaling the start of the event feel free to swap, trade or take trackables that you can help along.

At a designated time, the meal will be served, we will take a group photo and I will announce the winner of the wildest hat.

At exactly 11:15AM, the log sheets will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will be evacuated without a trace.

Only those participants whose names appear on the log sheets may log this event.

Add this cache to your watchlist so you will be up to date with the changes. I am in contact with all other event coordinaters. Also, post a note here so I can have an idea how many to expect.

ITINERARY:

10:45 - 10:59 AM - Participants: Wait patiently and mill about and mosey around. Stay alert, but STAY AWAY from the Ground Zero until the signal is given (I will place my hat on my head). As much as you can, act like a muggle, pretend not to know each other or give any indication that something is about to happen (This includes inside Starbucks). When I place my hat on my head(at 11:00am), make a mass exodus (or would that be introdus? :D)

11:00 AM - Log sheets will be handed out. Bring your own writing instrument. Sign individual log sheets and drop them in the collection bucket. Also, please only 1 log sheet per person. We want to get the exact number of participants to add to the other flash mobs. The worldwide goal is 5,000 people. Mingle. Trade travel bugs and coins. Share stories. Brag. Take pictures. Make arrangements to meet elsewhere, or to find the various caches in the nearby area.

11:08 AM - The buffet table will open and the catered meal will be served! (Don’t get excited, it’s just Hershes Kisses and leftover Halloween candy.) Don't forget to CITO your wrappers!

11:11 AM - FTF prize drawing and announce wildest hat.

11:13 AM - Assemble for a group photo, and assemble FAST. Listen to the photographer for directions. Group photo is taken.

11:14 AM - One minute warning is called "It is now 11:14!" Prepare to leave.

11:15 AM EXACTLY - Wait for it ... then LEAVE the area (right at 11:15 AM)in a friendzed fashon! The log sheet bucket will be packed up. If you don't get to it in time you can't log the event. Meet elsewhere if desired. I suggest we can meet at the food court 200 yards East.

If everything goes right we will have lots of people coming out of nowhere and gathering for 15 minutes, holding a geocaching event and then disappearing. This could be lots of fun and maybe even raise a few muggle eyebrows!

Don,t forget to bring your camera and take a lot of pictures so I can post them here and maybe on a Youtube video.

I will need a few volunteers to help with this event. Let me know if you can help!
