Geocache Description:

This cache is a traditional, regular sized container. It is hidden near one of Plattsmouth’s more interesting byways. Don’t hit the large tree growing in the middle of the street. Some bush whacking is needed to find the cache.

Immediately west of the cache site is the Parmele House Bed and Breakfast. The owner has kindly granted permission to place this geocache on her property.

Quoting parts of an article appearing in the June 22, 1905 issue of the Plattsmouth Journal: “The house being built by C. C. Parmele on North Fifth Street is rapidly being completed. The house occupies probably the highest piece of ground in Plattsmouth, and commands a view that is unsurpassable. The magnificent Missouri valley lies spread out far below, cut in the middle by the mighty river. The style of architecture is a mixture of the colonial and southern. The house has been wired throughout, and will be provided with electric lights, electric bells and electric servant calls from every room. A steam heating system will be installed, and the system of ventilation is scientific. Altogether, Mr. Parmele's new home will be one of the most tasty and elegant in the county, and its location cannot be surpassed in the state.” Mr. Parmele was a Plattsmouth merchant during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

26 July 2008:
Upped the difficulty level from 1.5 to 2.5. Due to the numerous nearby large trees, moving GPS receivers (hint) lose lock and jump from a fix on one satellite to another within just a few feet.
