Geocache Description:

Mr Emu's ninth cache brings you to another spectacular vantage point on the Victorian SurfCoast. This is a simple off-set multi, to show you the best viewing locations.

Two well known surf-breaks are accessible from here, which means surfers are some of the few who will make the effort to walk this steep access track to the ocean.

You might be surprised by the name of the second break! For bonus points, you are challenged to try and work a word or phrase that means the same thing into your log in a subtle, non-obvious way. Log-edits will be requested if you fail...

If there is good swell, you will have a great vantage point for watching the surfers that will no doubt be taking advantage of the conditions. However, access to the cache might be a bit harder due to the presence of muggles. The cache can be retrieved without any acrobatics, but your search will need to be discreet.

If there is a huge swell or storm conditions, do not go right down to the second viewpoint! You can still accomplish your task from a safe distance

Questions:
  • First Viewpoint:
The deck here has two levels. How many pieces of timber are used in the lower (seaward) portion of the deck? This number is AB

  • Second Viewpoint:
How many pieces of timber are used in this lowest deck of all (no, not the last step). This number is CD

Calculations:

To find the cache, you will need to retrace you steps (pardon the pun). How many? Of the numbers A, B, C & D, one is different. Call this number E.

E x E = F

AB - CD = G

If you go back up (G x 40) - F steps from the lowest deck, you will be within a metre or so of the cache.

The Cache:The cache you seek is a 200 ml Sistema with a logbook and an assortment of small swaps. Please make sure you replace the cache exactly as you found it (i.e. not visible).

First-to-find prize is the new "Mr Emu - Cache Surfer" pathtag. Please email me to make your claim and arrange collection. One per team at this stage.
