I'm not sure how much longer I'll be here. But having lasted this
long maybe they'll just forget about me. There was a time when I
controlled the traffic in the Yard, but the last whistle blew so
long ago. I've watched the trains, then the removal of the stains
and now the rise of the new Yard. When you visit, perhaps you'll
hear the echoes of the whistles on the wind. Please don't climb on
me, I'm old and brittle and there is no need too.

11/21/07 Update: Intrepid seekers, drive up access is no
longer available due to advancing construction. Street parking is
available south of the cache on E. Custis Street, then cross Rte. 1
with the light and use the public sidewalk east of the treeline.
There is similar access from E. Glebe street north of the cache,
but parking is less reliable. Please be extra careful crossing Rte.
1 and enjoy the short hike.
The signal tower was knocked over by bulldozer on or around
12/10/07. I have asked the contractor if it will be preserved in
some fashion or sent for recycling. I'll post additional
information if I receive it. Unfortunately the area is unsafe while
construction continues so I've removed the cache.
